A hillside position
Château de la Messardière overlooks the bay from the heights of Saint-Tropez, on Route de Tahiti, about 2 km from the village centre. The view is the property's asset; the trade-off is access, by a road that climbs and winds. In practice, walking to the village from the hotel is not realistic, particularly late in the day and in the heat. Travel happens by vehicle, which makes transport a more structural question here than for a hotel in the centre.
Access and arrival
Access is via Route de Tahiti and then the private drive up to the steps. Our drivers go all the way to the entrance, which avoids finishing on foot up a sloping drive with the luggage. Route de Tahiti also serves the beaches of the same name: in July and August it is busy in the middle of the day, in both directions. For an airport departure we build in a margin on that stretch.
From the hotel
The most common journeys are the village centre — a few minutes by car — and the Pampelonne beaches, about 8 km away. Tahiti beach, closer, sits at the northern end of Pampelonne. For airport transfers, allow 1h30 to Nice, an hour to Toulon-Hyères and 25 minutes to La Môle. A chauffeur at disposal by the day suits a stay here best, precisely because nothing is within walking distance.
