Getting to Château Minuty

The best-known wine estate in the Golfe, above Gassin. A visit where a driver is not a luxury but common sense.

The estate and its access

Château Minuty sits in the commune of Gassin, on the heights between the hilltop village and the sea. The road there is narrow and busy in season, with few passing places on some stretches. From Saint-Tropez, allow about fifteen minutes out of season for some ten kilometres. From Gassin village, the estate is minutes away.

Tasting: the reason to have a driver

This is the most direct argument. An estate visit ends with a tasting, and the road back is narrow, winding and busy. Getting behind the wheel after several glasses is neither sensible nor legal. With a driver the question does not arise. It is also what makes it possible to string several estates together over half a day — Minuty, then other properties in the area — which one driver cannot do.

Combining with the village and the beaches

The estate pairs naturally with the hilltop village of Gassin, minutes away, whose lanes are pedestrian and where we drop off near the upper square. Pampelonne is about 8 km away, some fifteen minutes. A typical half-day chains a tasting, lunch in the village and the beach in the late afternoon — a programme that assumes not driving, and not hunting for three parking spaces.
